Here are some photos from the 373R Elementary school site. They transformed an empty space into a beautiful vegetable/sensory garden.

Thank you to Mary Jean Lotito and Pamela Kominoski for the photographs.

Thank you science teacher Dianne Hilaire-Newton and assistant principal Lori Heffez for the photos. The bell pepper was grown indoors at 36K @224 and the outdoor photos are from 36K @ Flatbush Town Hall. Nice work!

On June 10, two of our PLG schools, 811X and 94M, participated in the Leave it Better Film Festival at the New York Botanical Garden. Their films were shown on the big screen, and they participated in outdoor activity stations including making chlorophyll prints with spinach leaves and learning about seed dispersal with Greg.

On May 6 and 13, Plant-Learn-Grow teachers had a special workshop at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx. They visited the Edible Garden, sifted compost, and made indoor worm bins. They also had a great time!

As part of the award the school won, the New York Restoration Project built this shady spot for the 721K garden. Now student gardeners can take a break when the sun gets too hot.

Here some other photos of the garden and shed.

Check out the “sub-irrigated planters!”

Thanks, Greg Heath

Thanks Maura Flanagan!
