On Friday, Ms. Benasaraf hosted the district’s first “Pick Your Own” Farmers Market at 396K @ 181.
“I wanted to share some pictures from our farmer’s market that took place during today’s gallery walk! Students and parents who visited the room had opportunities to pick tomatoes, herbs, and lettuce directly off our towers to taste and to bring home in provided bags!”
Sometimes, once you get growing, it can be hard to stop! Here are some more updates from Ms. Rollan’s classes at 396K @91:
I am happy to send you pictures of our first completed harvest. I am extremely proud of the students and staff who have worked hard to harvest our vegetables and herbs. The students were able to observe the length of the roots after we took them out of the hydroponic system. We have started a new batch and now we have two systems. I am hoping that we will be able to have our next harvest by the end of May or early June before Summer.
Remember those photos of Ms. Rollan’s class at 396K @91 planting seeds back in January? Well, here is an update!
I am happy to report that today V61, Ms. O’Connor’s class harvested some leafy vegetables from our hydroponics tower to make a small salad. I have included some pictures. The students were excited to try the salad. I would like to shout out the class paraprofessionals who assisted in our first harvest. Looking forward to harvesting some more vegetables with other classes.

The indoor garden is growing growing growing. Considering they have only 4 hours of sun, and water when we remember.
