Teachers that attended the Hydroponics – Get Growing! PD on Feb 5 at 754X not only explored and learned about 5 different kinds of hydroponic and aquaponic growing systems in Mr. Masefield’s lab, but they also got to meet the chickens, make a mushroom starting kit, and complete a friendly but competitive tower garden building challenge!

754X J.M. Rapport School in the Bronx is the first D75 school to open an FFA chapter in NYC!  Mr. Masefields’s students run a small farm with hydroponics, aquaponics, chickens, tilapia shrimp, and an outdoor garden, and they visit local farms and botanical gardens each month.

Ms. P and her students from 721X @ Dewitt Clinton HS report: We are having a high success rate with our grow towers this year. We are growing Jalapenos, Shishito peppers, banana peppers, Sugar rush peach peppers and basil.

They look amazing!!
